US tariffs situation update.

Q.: what is the impact of the current US tariffs against China (where our inflatable products and dakis are sourced) for Horseplay Toys customers.

A.: there will be no negative financial impact for US customers until (at least) August/September 2025, i.e. no price increases or extra charges.

Why is this so?

1) We have stock that is located in the United States. This is expected to last for some time.

2) Custom-made items that we typically ship to the US on demand, like dakis and inflatable pillows, would be subject to the new tariff since goods from China are exempted from the $ 800 de minimis treatment. We will have to decide whether to ship these goods to Germany first and then re-export to the US on a case-by-case basis. We will bear the additional shipping cost. At the time of this post, parcel shipments from the EU still enjoy the $ 800 de minimis treatment. This may add a few weeks to delivery times.

3) The prices for the upcoming pre-orders (Zoey, Nami, blue horse, gothic pool) will remain as advertised now regardless of whether the tariffs are still in place at the time when these goods enter the United States. (Extra incentive for pre-ordering... wink, wink, nod, nod...). There will be no additional charges.

4) New stock (as of ca. August/September onwards) will become more expensive if the tariffs are still in place at that time. Future pre-orders (pony princesses going forward) will also take the new costs into account if they are still in place. However, if the tariffs are abolished during the pre-order period and before the goods enter the United States, then we will find a way to compensate customers for that.

First thing: there will be a permanent, multi-use, 10% discount for US customers only for as long as the punitive tariffs against China remain in place for all orders over EUR 150 (now ca. US$ 170). This will be specifically to compensate for the combination of a weakening US$ and the overall higher costs that our customers may be facing from Aug/Sep 2025 onwards. We may pause this for the upcoming pre-orders which will hopefully start next month (see our previous post for an explanation).

Second thing: we will be re-locating our US warehouse within the next few months.
